Insufficient File Handles Maxfilehandles

The Borland Database Engine (BDE) needs to be re-set. Please follow this link and then follow the directions.

Cannot find BDE


On your installation CD, find the folder marked BDE. Click on that folder. (If you do not have the installation CD, click here to download the file.) Click on that file That will extract all of the files that are needed to (re)install the BDE. Extract those files into a temporary directory. (If you know where they went, you can then delete them later.) Once it is installed, you can follow the instructions for re-setting the BDE. Click here.



Network Denial Cannot find \jackendoff-nt\ds

Somehow, much to our chagrin, your shortcut is pointing to one of our developer's server. Obviously, this won't work for you.

Right click on the shortcut-icon and go into properties. Click on Shortcut. Then, check both "Target" and "Start in" and make sure that they both point to \ds on your server or stand alone machine (c:\ds, or z:\ds, or wherever you you have placed the program.)


Wrong version of BDE
If you are receiving a message stating that you have the wrong version of BDE, you can either:
- go to the installation CD | click on the BDE folder | click on the file there and follow the instructions.

- download the new version (bde501en.exe). Click here to download the latest version of BDE . It is a self-extracting installation.

  • After the file has been saved, run the program (by clicking on it in Windows Explorer) and follow the instructions.
  • Click here and follow the instructions that are there. . (If you have non-demo data on your machine, email us with the particulars so that we can help you)
  • Re-start DATASTART(TM) That should take care of the problem.
